Our Story

I thought I would start this out with Our story. John and I have known each other since we were 12 yrs old. Just babes! We met through our families. John's step-sister, Sam and i were best friends and John was that mystery kid who showed up every other weekend. Who i just adored. Every other weekend became my favorite. lol Overtime John and my brother had become friends. So eventually we became the "4" musketeers (lol) The brother and Sister duos causing trouble everywhere we went. (no really) Overtime transitioning into teens and young adults things changed, people got busy and we all grew apart. The passing glances, the cute hallway hugs and the late night chats faded, but John was still that pre-teen crush I'd always remember. We lost touch for a few years. 2006 at 18 yrs old working full-time and dancing full time preparing for a trip to New york with my dance company my phone rang... It was John it had been over a year since we had seen each other even longer since we had talked. I was a bit confused but eager at the same time. He told me was just scrolling through his phone saw my name and wanted to catch up. We talked for hours and made plans to meet up when i had returned from my trip. A few weeks later we went to the movies and instantly reconected. Not even a week later we went to Kings Dominion and spent the whole day together with friends. From that moment on we were connected at the hip we couldnt go a week without seeing each other. Late night trips up and down the road were our new habits an hour and half one way, but that didnt seen to matter, that drive began to just fly by. It was a summer of love that we never wanted to end. We spent the forth of July together and watched the fireworks in the sky that we'd already been seeing in our heads for the past few weeks. Late July John signed up for the Army National Guard. September he took me to a Rascal Flatts concert and gave me a promise ring and asked me to wait for him. Two days later he left for bootcamp we wrote everyday. Running to the mailbox before and after work became a daily activity. It's amazing after only dating a few months how strong we became even with him gone. In November I flew to St Louis, Misourri with John's mom to see him graduate. He was released for two days. That day and the next day which happened to be Thanksgiving. We had a turkey lunch at local resturant and spent the whole day together. We held on tight and dreaded another goodbye.. but it came. John was stationed in Ft. Lee, Va for AIT. It was far but not too far. The long drives began again.. I would drive every weekend to see him counting down to the pennies for my gas. Finally he graduated in march of '07 and came home! I was so excited and amazed we had made it! It would of been so easy at times to just give up. In August of '07 i went to Ga for a month to help out my sister-in-law with her two boys and her new baby girl. John made a surprise trip to come and see me! At this point he asked me seriously but unofficially if he had asked me to marry him right now what would i say.. after fighting off the tears and taking a deep breath (wanting to jump up and down screaming yes! yes! yes!) I told him he was the love of my life and ofcourse i would. A few weeks later he returned, we had planned for him to pick me up and drive to South Carolina to visit family then drive home to Va. We spent a night in SC and introduced John to all my family. We took a late night trip to the beach wanting to see the water and atleast feel the sand beneath my feet before we left the next morning. We walked hand in hand and talked for a long time just enjoying the moment...(before we went on our walk John handed me his keys and debit card asking me to put it my pocket so it doesnt get wet)..so wondering if he was planning on diving in at any moment. lol John stopped looked at me, and went down on one knee with the waves coming up under him and asked me to marry him. He pulled out a beautiful ring and put it ever so prefectly on my finger. It couldnt of been anymore amazing. Just then some kids down the beach started lighting off fireworks... Talk about a scene from a movie? Our families had a hard time with this at first us being so young. I believe when you know you know. What were we waiting for? We were Married May 24th 2008 still newlyweds and couldnt be happier!...I mean how many people can say they married their first real crush?
